Bringing Light Back Into Their Lives

By CBN Nigeria
Felicia

Felicia with new glassesOperation Blessing Nigeria brought hope to the people of Karshi, a satellite town near Nigeria’s federal capital city Abuja, where it recently organized a four-day medical mission.

The people of Karshi, a predominantly Muslim community, benefited not only from free treatment, which included free drugs and reading glasses, but were also exposed to the Gospel during counseling sessions and video outreaches which were organized every evening.

Felicia, an elderly matron at the local secondary school, was one of the patients to benefit from OB’s free reading glasses.

Baby examined“It is unfortunate that people like me who are literate are unable to see well enough to read the Bible,” she said just before she saw the doctors for treatment. However, after receiving a pair of reading glasses which she could not have afforded otherwise, Felicia, full of gratitude to God, said, “God is really using OB to help people like us. With my eyesight, I couldn’t see very far, not to mention being unable to read. It was like living in darkness because I couldn’t read my Bible. These glasses have brought light back into my life because I can now read God’s Word better!”

PharmacistAnother beneficiary of the medical mission was Victoria, a 63-year-old grandmother who had suffered severe eye pains for many years. She complained that her eyes kept itching her and were reddish and very painful. She could not afford treatment at the local hospital and had endured the pain for many years until her daughter Queen heard that OBwas coming to their town with free reading glasses. She quickly made arrangements to have her mother brought to the medical mission to see the doctors. Victoria was treated and given free reading glasses after the doctors prescribed drugs which would stop her eyes from itching.

This is the first time I have seen people coming to our bush with free drugs. God bless you and please always put us in your prayers. As you’ve remembered us here in Karshi, may God remember you too!” she said.

Over two thousand patients, mostly Muslims, were treated during the OBmedical mission and about 347 people received Jesus Christ into their lives as a result of the love and care shown them by Operation Blessing.
