CBN International, in November 2003, brought relief to six rural communities:
Okwabena, Otopiase, Kwesi Nyamoakwaa, Kwame Ntsiful, Sarkwa and Obosomadze
villages in the central region of Ghana by rehabilitating six old bore-holes
sunk by the government of Ghana in the early 90s.
These communities are some of the villages in the central region of
Ghana with acute potable water shortages. The situation becomes more
severe during the dry season when locally dug wells, shallow ponds and
contaminated streams dry up leaving the communities without water. The
six communities have a combined population of 4,500 people.
At the commissioning ceremony, a large number of people came out to
express their feelings of relief.
The commissioning ceremony was backed up with a video outreach later
in the evening. 2,300 people attended the meeting. Out of this, 1,500
people prayed to accept Christ into their lives while five people were
baptized in the Holy Spirit.
When interviewed, the head chief King Odang had this to say:
"The repair of this bore-hole was timely. It was really God-sent.
I am personally happy because many domestic quarrels will be solved
and peace will now return to many homes. Please convey my sincere thanks
and appreciation to CBN partners."
In another interview Nana Frank, a member of the community, said:
"We have suffered a lot since this bore-hole broke down leaving
us at the mercy of contaminated streams with its attendant water-borne
diseases.
"We are, therefore, extremely grateful for your help. Please convey
our thanks to CBN partners, who graciously provided money for this wonderful
work. May the Almighty God bless and protect them.
Chief John Dadzie said:
"The repair of this bore-hole has brought a lot of relief to me
and my people. I am particularly happy to express my appreciation to
CBN partners for their kind -heartedness."
