Operation Blessing in its ongoing effort to restore hope to the hurting
and the underprivileged has extended God's love to the poor in Bauchi
through its women empowerment program.
On December 18, 2003, OB officially commissioned its sewing and hairdressing
center. This is one of its women empowerment programs aimed at making
a difference in the lives of women who are hurting as a result of poverty.
Operation Blessing brought hope to ten women. Three of them were former
prostitutes in one of the brothels in Bauchi.
Bauchi State is located in the northern (Northeast) part of Nigeria.
It is about 4-1/2 hours by road from Abuja. Pastor Promise Nuhu of Triumph
of Faith Church, with whom CBN is partnering said, "I am grateful
to you CBN for demonstrating the most powerful and effective approach
to evangelism. My Church is challenged by this gesture. I am encouraged.
Indeed, we will remain committed to this partnership. We will play our
role. Thank you CBN. May God bless the faces behind this great organization."
The commissioning of the center attracted people from different churches
represented in the Bauchi area. At the commissioning, OB, manager John
Kalma prayed for the trainees as well as dedicated the machines to the
glory and honor of God as he cut the tape to declare the center open.
He expressed the hope that the center would serve as a source of encouragement
to women in Bauchi State. He prayed that the activities of the center
would bring joy to the beneficiaries of the center and peace to the
community and ultimately lead to an improvement in the living standard
of underprivileged women, economically, socially and spiritually.
The location of this center is strategic, because it is sited in a
Muslim dominated state. It would therefore be a channel for spreading
the gospel of Christ in that State.
