Abdulkadiri Ibrahim is
a Muslim boy. He was born with a cleft lip deformity nine months ago.
His parents migrated from Borno State, Northern Nigeria, to Plateau State.
They reside among the Muslim community in Jos Metropolis. His father is
a carpenter and his mother a housewife.
On September 27, 2003 Dr. Lohfa Chirdan of Jos University Teaching Hospital
performed cleft lip surgery on the boy.
Mallam Ibrahim, Abdulkadiri's father, expressed his profound gratitude
to CBN when he was interviewed, and said:
"I am very grateful to you. I have been trying to save money to
pay for this surgery for the past five months, but it was not possible.
My problem was compounded when my small workshop was burnt down in December
2002. Since then, feeding my family has been a serious problem. When
my wife met with the CBN team who promised to repair our child's lip,
I could not believe it. But I kept asking the question, how is it possible?
Because I have attempted borrowing some money from my own Muslim brothers
but no one was able to help me. It was a surprise to me that God could
direct Christians from afar to come to my aid. I am thankful to God
Almighty for your care. My prayer is that God will give you everything
you need in this life. Thank you CBN."
Mallama Shaafatu Ibrahim expressed her delight when she was interviewed:
"I was afraid the day I met the CBN team. I thought you people
would refuse me an audience. Especially now that some Muslim mobs had
threatened to chase you out of Aliyu's parents house.
"Thank you, may God bless you. Before you came to our help, I
had already given up, since my husband could not raise the money required
for the surgery. I left everything to God. But today, God has surpassed
our imagination. Thank you CBN. My heart is at rest now and I have peace
seeing my son's lip put together again. I am so happy for the work you
did on my child. He is now looking like a normal human being.
"When my son grows up, I will indeed tell him how his lips was
repaired by a Christian group. I will tell him how some people loved
him so much that they paid for the surgery of his cleft lip.
"Once again, thank you."
